These are the brilliant individuals who can look at the craft involved in music and sound for the media, and bring their expertise to the judging process to make sure the finalists and winners truly merit the recognition of the Music+Sound Awards.

This year we are extremely proud to introduce you to the UK 2016 jury panel.

  SOUND JURY CHAIR: SAM ROBSON SENIOR SOUND DESIGNER - 750MPH Sam Robson joined 750mph in April 2014 as a Senior Sound Designer and board director. He has over 15 years experience and has worked on some of the most memorable ads in recent years including Stella, Lynx and Audi. Sam has won numerous awards including a D&AD Yellow Pencil, a British Arrow Gold for Sound Design and Cannes Gold Lion.

  GARY TURNBULL SOUND ENGINEER - GCRS With 16 years in the sound industry, Gary Turnbull has earned an enviable reputation for delivering audio excellence to some of the world’s most critically acclaimed commercials. Since joining Grand Central Recording Studios (GCRS) in 1998, he has worked with the cream of the creative industry, both in the UK and internationally, on campaigns for brands such as BMW, Jaguar, Toyota, M&S and Adidas. A notable career highlight for Gary was working on BBC’s ‘Wonderful World’ campaign, a project for which he won a D&AD Yellow Pencil for Sound Design. With 16 years in the sound industry, Gary Turnbull has earned an enviable reputation for delivering audio excellence to some of the world’s most critically acclaimed commercials.

Since joining Grand Central Recording Studios (GCRS) in 1998, he has worked with the cream of the creative industry, both in the UK and internationally, on campaigns for brands such as BMW, Jaguar, Toyota, M&S and Adidas.

A notable career highlight for Gary was working on BBC’s ‘Wonderful World’ campaign, a project for which he won a D&AD Yellow Pencil for Sound Design.

Gary is one of Soho’s most established sound designers, and is especially known for his intricate sound design and painstaking attention to detail.

Jack is a classically trained 'cellist with a long history of music and sound.  Having travelled with orchestras from an early age he moved on to djing and eventually started as an 18 year old runner at Wave in early 2002. 

He quickly became an engineer and through his work with clients such as Honda, Nike, Sony and British Airways collected numerous awards. 

In 2014 he became Creative Director and helps lead the front line of sound designers at Wave Studios.

He's been responsible for several high-profile campaigns including Get Involved for The Sun, which launched an entirely new brand idea and strapline for the UK's best-selling paper; the eye-catching Fashion Royalty for the Sunday Times Style, which re-launched the magazine and was written about everywhere from The Daily Mail and Buzzfeed to The Washington Times and NBC; and The Changing Face of Wealth, promoting the 25th anniversary of the influential Sunday Times Rich List.

In 2011, after over 8 years with Adelphoi, Paul left to set up the London operation for international music agency MassiveMusic.  He quickly entered the company to the UK's music production, supervision, talent management and sonic branding industries, becoming one of London's top music agencies in very short time.   For lovers of 90's house and drum'n'bass, Paul can still sometimes be caught dusting off his decks for a nostalgic vinyl trip.

Recent Music Supervision highlights include commercials for John Lewis, Land Rover, SSE and Haig Club, Guy Myhill’s feature film ’The Goob’ and Kevin Macdonald’s 'Christmas In A Day’.

John is the Founder and managing director of Finger music.  He started his career in advertising selling airtime for ITV before joining MPC in 1993.  He spent 8 years there as a post production producer of music videos and commercials working with all the major record labels and advertising agencies in London.  In 2001 John left post production behind to start Finger Music providing bespoke music composition and music supervision to his advertising clients.
Finger Music went on to become one of London’s busiest music houses collecting numerous industry awards along the way.  Finger soon expanded to the US and more recently Amsterdam.   Recent campaigns include Guinness, John Lewis, Virgin, Coca Cola, Microsoft, Audi and Pokerstars

His bands 'The Dallas Guild' and 'Social Skills' have been synchronized to TVCs for VW, Nurofen and Bompass & Parr's wobbling jelly viral hit. They also collaborated with director AJ Colomb on a promo/documentary about a transexual prostitute in Milan! The first record he bought was "E.T The Extra Terrestrial (Flying Theme) by John Williams on 7" Vinyl Picture Disc.

Scuta is the Founder and Creative Director of Soviet Science Music. His career began as a runner in TV production back in the late 90s. His passion for music swiftly moved him on to music promos for Jamiroquai and later he found a home in the TV Dept at Grey London. With a passion for both film and music, it finally occurred to him to combine the two sides and he formed Soviet Science Music in 2002.

Since then he has written music for Clients including Jaguar, O2, BBC, Google, Channel 4 and even Michael Moore. His bands 'The Dallas Guild' and 'Social Skills' have been synchronized to TVCs for VW, Nurofen and Bompass & Parr's wobbling jelly viral hit. They also collaborated with director AJ Colomb on a promo/documentary about a transexual prostitute in Milan!

The first record he bought was "E.T The Extra Terrestrial (Flying Theme) by John Williams on 7" Vinyl Picture Disc.

More recently Vince has branched out into Film and TV.  He was nominated for a Bafta and went on to win the RTS Award for Best Original Score for his work on C4’s Misfits.  

In 2015 Vince scored Paul Abbott’s critically acclaimed new series “No Offence”, Jack Whitehall’s first feature “Bad Education – The Movie” and “The Gamechangers” for BBC2 starring Daniel Radcliffe and Bill Paxton.  He is looking forward to a busy year ahead with two major drama productions already underway.

Working across all areas of music supervision, Laura is a key to the ever developing roster of composers and musicians at Soho Music. She has produced a number of award winning campaigns for brands such as O2, Nike, McLaren, LandRover, Adidas & Coca-Cola.

  HARRY ESCOTT COMPOSER Harry Escott first came to prominence in 2005 with his score to the influential psychological horror film Hard Candy, directed by David Slade.  Since then, Harry has worked with such stellar directorial talents as Michael Winterbottom on both A Mighty Heart and The Road To Guantanamo, Nick Broomfield (Ghosts), and Steve McQueen (Shame). In the last year, Harry has scored the British crime movie, Welcome To The Punch, directed by Eran Creevy and starring James McAvoy, Mark Strong and Andrea Riseborough, and The Selfish Giant, a contemporary adaptation of Oscar Wilde’s short story directed by Clio Barnard.  For television, Harry scored the BBC1 4-part crime drama What Remains, Run, a 4-part urban drama and, most recently, New Worlds, a major new historical drama by Peter Flannery, both for C4.

Harry Escott first came to prominence in 2005 with his score to the influential psychological horror film Hard Candy, directed by David Slade.  Since then, Harry has worked with such stellar directorial talents as Michael Winterbottom on both A Mighty Heart and The Road To Guantanamo, Nick Broomfield (Ghosts), and Steve McQueen (Shame).
